While many international conferences were cancelled or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Venice and SUM Symposia were among the very few events worldwide that did not skip their 2020 editions. Both conferences were successfully organised in a fully virtual format.
The first virtual joint edition of the SUM + Venice Symposia, organised by the IWWG – International Waste Working Group, was held entirely online from 16 to 20 November 2020.
The event brought together more than 400 participants and featured the presentation of 388 scientific papers, covering virtually every aspect of resource recovery from waste, including both energy generation and the production of new materials.
