CISA Publisher represents the Eurowaste section dealing with transfer to the media (books, reports, textbooks, CD, etc) of the wealth of information accumulated throughout activities performed by the University of Padova (in particular in the field of Waste management and Contaminated site remediation) and by IWWG and member scientists.

Sardinia Symposium – 30th Anniversary Book

Original price was: 29,90€.Current price is: 19,90€.

Thirty years!
You can’t look away for a minute!
So few that we hardly even noticed.
The wastes are still there and essentially remain the same, with the addition of a few mobile phone scraps.
Our enthusiasm is the same as always.
Our dear friends and colleagues are still the same, some with a few more grey hairs and some rather less hair.
The trees and the sea at Forte Village have remained unchanged.
However, thirty years is also a long time. On looking back, you realise that we started in the last millennium!
Over the last thirty years the scientific advances made have been intense, the approach to solid waste management has changed radically worldwide, both in industrialised nations and in developing countries. History has witnessed tragic events that continue to be reiterated and to cause pain such as the terrorist attacks and the unsolved geopolitical situations; some countries have experienced an unprecedented major boost to the economy, whilst others an equally marked decline; we have children and grandchildren that were lacking previously.
The Sardinia Symposia have viewed and witnessed many of these historic changes and have even been involved and contributed towards others.
This volume retraces the steps taken over the years.
And so the journey goes on.
Raffaello Cossu, Rainer Stegmann

The book is structured in three sections.
Section I: a series of renowned international scientists highlight the role played by the Sardinia Symposium in the scientific and technological evolution of the main Waste Management sectors. Milestone papers presented at the Symposia are indicated by the individual scientist and reprinted in the volume, often as a photostat copy as the files are blowin’in the wind!
Section II: the impact of the Symposia on the best waste management practices carried out in different countries and areas of the world (Brazil, Australia, China, etc.) is highlighted by local Authors.
The contributions have been lightly edited in order to homogenize the style. The quality of the English language reflects the degree of fluency of authors from different countries.
Section III: this section gathers the memories and emotions that accompanied the typical mixture of the Sardinia Symposia in which scientific sessions, social events, genuine friendships and a breathtaking environment were all intermingled. A photogallery and list of recipients of the Sardinia Award “A Life for Waste, etc., etc.) can be found here.
Section IV: the making of Sardinia Symposium. The final section of this book is dedicated to all the people who took care of the operational side of the Symposium, people who have devoted passion, professionality, enthusiasm and time to this event.
